Fossil HD is just three months old today. However, in that short amount of time it has evolved into something much larger than I expected. Today, for my first editorial Plus Ultra article I would like to announce the changes that we've made.
When the idea for Fossil HD first sprang into my head over a year ago, I was elated. I knew in the bottom of my heart this was a great idea. I soon came to the realization that this type of publication would be difficult at best. This was a massive undertaking. How would people respond? Could I actually put something like this together? Could it survive being based in a South Arkansas town of just 6,000 people? Yes, Yes, and Yes!
These past three months in truth have been borderline experimental. We tested different features and weighed the pros and cons. Today, the Fossil HD you will see is much different from the one of the past few months.
No longer will our site be updated on a once a month basis. Now visitors will be greeted with new stories daily. We intend to morph into your home for all top academic news and review.
We also have separated our site out into several different academic subject sections. We have from the beginning been a humanities publication, but it is our hope that by creating section tabs our viewers and readers will know in more detail what exactly we cover.
Another terrific new feature of our site is the archiving system. After introducing Fossil HD to many high schools, teachers came forward asking for a way to search for certain subjects and assign work based on those articles and videos. In order to provide them with this feature, we needed to be able to archive every story for all time. Now we have that ability and we think the archiving feature will come in handy to every Fossil HD viewer.
